How to Navigate through the Help Topics     Up

The help system divides the window of your browser into two panes, the navigation pane on the left and the content pane on the right.

If your browser shows only the content pane, click Show TOC in the top left of the pane to show the navigation pane.

The Navigation Pane

You can display a list of contents or the help index by clicking the Contents or Index tab at the top of the navigation pane.

On the Contents tab, clicking a list entry opens the linked topic in the content pane. When you click a link in the content pane, the entry corresponding to the target in the table of contents is highlighted. This helps you to identify the context of the particular topic.

Book icons denote topics that contain subtopics. Click a book icon to expand the view.

In the Index tab you have to double-click the entry in order to open the topic. Since the index may be fairly long, you can use the text field at the top of the index. Type in the first few letters of a word and scroll the list. The first matching entry is highlighted.

The Content Pane

The gray area at the top of the content pane always shows the topic title.

Above the topic title, various icons may appear, which are explained in the following:

Show TOC Hide TOC

Click these icons to hide and show the navigation pane.

Back Forward

If you see a pair of these icons, the topic is part of a sequence of topics that together represent an information unit. By clicking the blue arrows, you can follow the sequence.
